This fall the Works Committee held two work mornings at the Hooper-Lee-Nichols House garden – one on October 26 at the beginning of the leaf-raking season and one on December 1 at the end. Both days were bright and clear – perfect working conditions. Members tended to the perennial beds and planted bulbs (Tulip ‘Maureen’) to be enjoyed next spring. With two tall oaks, a large Norway maple, zelkova, chestnut, and little-leaf linden, leaves were plentiful, and over 60 yard-waste bags were filled.
The club’s workers: Joanna Antebi, Elizabeth Bierer, Janet Burns, Ruth Crocker, Jan Ferrara, Dotty Gonson, Lindsay Griemann, Shelagh Hadley, Jane Knowles, Pam Lingel, Esther Pullman, Martha Stearns, and Mary Ellen Wynn, plus the committee’s co-chairs.
